Join us for two introductory sessions on fundraising.
Session one introduces the concept of fundraising and philanthropy. We discuss why people give money, what for and who does the asking. We talk about the different fundraising tools, how they work and the pros and cons of each. Ethics are important in fundraising and we introduce you to the issues that may arise when fundraising. You will have the opportunity to create a quick and simple fundraising plan to raise $$$$$. This session is great for giving volunteers an overview of what fundraising is all about, or for someone who is moving into fundraising from another job.
Session Two, in the afternoon, takes you through some important fundraising activities in more detail. We show you how to prepare a case statement that tells donors why you are asking for money and why their contribution will make a difference. You will need a case statement for all your grant applications. We look at some of the more complicated fundraising tools like direct mail and share the traps and pitfalls with you. You will also learn about the new ways that businesses might support your organisation. The afternoon session is a good refresher session for someone who's been in an introductory fundraising job for a year and wants to move to the next level or someone who's been fundraising voluntarily and wants to become more professional.
All our courses offer excellent New Zealand resource material and you will receive copies of New Zealand’s only monthly fundraising related publications, Fundraising New Zealand and Sponsorship Profile. Both these publications are worth their weight in gold with local case studies, news you can use, and practical fundraising information.
